the more technology takes over my life, the more i unconsciously yearn for simpler days. i used to be just like drake-using my blackberry to jot down every little thing, including my daily to do list. but i have gone back to the conventional way of writing: a notebook + a pen. seems easier for some reason… the only problem with writing is when i am on the train writing like a mad woman + people are looking over my shoulder reading what i am writing; it happened today…it’s whatevs…but thinking about this topic made me think of this song by my boo q-tip + his former group a tribe called quest, pad + pen…

this is the fabric for the last dress in this series, african + metallic prints, both jersey fabrics. i hope to post it tomorrow but i gotta see if i can finish it tonite. the idea for this one has been in my head for almost 2 wks now. it was supposed to be in the spring collection but when i went to the fabric store today, they did not have a lot of the african print. as a result, it will make its debut sooner than planned. can’t wait to get started on it tonite.

plotting out my next moves for naKIMuli inc + i realize i really to step my photography game up! i mean, i’ve always known that but it is becoming more + more dire as my business grows. so today, i am going to visit a photography school. looking to take clases ASAP; most start in january so i have to hurry up + decide where i wanna go. the goal: to do photo shoots without having to hire a photographer. i am sooo excited! it’s been a dream of mine since junior high to study photography. i am looking forward to this! will keep u updated of course!

i think i saw miss nakimuli herself in trader joe’s not too long ago. i had to hold back a “i loooooooooooooove your dresses!” because it seemed a bit much for the frozen food aisle.

(i probably looked shorter in person, right? i get that ALL THE TIME. lol) and it’s funny cuz i just finished writing my grocery list when i read this. lol and gurrrl, u should have approached me! i don’t bite…unless u’re made of dark chocolate. (yummy!) i was probably coming from the gym + looking busted, but i still would have said hi! :D
and i will be making more party dresses for the spring collection. so if u r not able to get this dress, there will be more great dresses coming in a few months.
that is the title of one of my fav labelle songs. (yes, i am a former patti labelle groupie!) i decided to name this dress series after it. i wanted to post the pics online for sale today but i had a lot of running around to do today. and tomorrow will be even worse. :(

got my temporary business cards/hangtags for shanae. business @ shanae has been moving quicker than i anticipated so i had to run out + make these quick cards. might just keep the same pic for the hangtags but i eventually want to have a business card that incorporates both naKIMuli + shanae. only makes sense right? soon come. :)
